Orchard Hill Christian Learning Center

Description

The Orchard Hill Learning Center is a licensed day care, pre-kindergarten, and latch key program. Additionally, the Learning Center is nationally accredited for early childhood programs by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. For this, and many other reasons, the Learning Center ministry is recognized throughout our community as one of the best of its kind in the area.

Rationale

The Orchard Hill Christian Learning Center was formed with the belief that each child needs free and structured loving attention during the formative years of life. Recognizing that there exists in our society a need for out of home child care, we as a Christian community, being concerned with the development and love of God's children, can perform a loving, needed vital ministry to each child. Therefore, the Orchard Hill Reformed Church has established the Orchard Hill Christian Learning Center as a ministry to the families of our congregation and the greater community.

Our Goals For Each Child

To nurture each child's relationship with God
To have a positive experience outside the home
To help each child learn to get along with others
To develop a positive self-image and a feeling of success
To develop self-expression through art, music and interaction
To develop self control by sharing and listening
To develop responsibility, independence, and decision-making skills
To improve verbal communication skills
To have fun!

Staff

The center staff is highly skilled and qualified in the early childhood field. The head teachers are required to have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field and at least 2 years of positive work experience teaching children. Teacher Assistants are staff that are still in the process of completing their degrees or have acceptable prior experience with children. The center also makes use of area college students that are pursuing degrees in the early childhood field to work with our school age and afternoon programs. We areproud to be able to retain many of our full time staff people from year to year which helps to maintain the continuity of relationships between the staff and children.
